there is no best.
Is 5x5 the best program for strength? Just wondering if there is another way to go about it or if I should do 5x5.
there is no best.

5x5 is good. Westside is good.
that program is as hard as you make it.
people aren't as advanced as they think they are.

P is right. Also I see way to many people do the 5x5 program and use weights they shouldnt be using. They go to hard at times and not hard enough other times. You may want to look at Stewart20's journal, hes currently kicking ass at a 5x5 program! But in my opinion a beginner should never do this. If you are new to weights you need to strengthen joints up, work more on stability, and focus more on form and the lifts in general.
It's effective until it stops working.

It might be better than P/RR/S. The tempo associated with the Power week greatly renders my strength, so I cant see it as being a "Power" anything. It should be labeled: Negative/RR/S.![]()
