I figured I would see a post from P on this one. I had a conversation with him about this. He says hes more concerned about his general health so back squats he rarely does anymore and I have taken his advice with this. I know speaking for myself I will never be a bb'er or anything, I just want to be strong and improve athletic ability. I dont have such a huge problem with my knees whenever I squat, but more my back and hips. I squat a good amount of weight on back squat, so it was kinda tough for me to give those up, but seems to really help me sleep at night, atleast my back dont hurt anymore. I decided to do split squats instead.

As for deads, well believe it or not they dont bother my back! Single legged RDL's would be a great substitue.

They dont bother mine either. A back squat puts a lot more stress on the spine than a deadlift does.

Then again a SUMO DEADLIFT is what fucked my back up once and for all. That was with 205lbs too comapred to my max Conventional in my sig.

Not sure if knee sleeves offer "support" but rather they help maintain a a wam temperature in the area they cover.

As I'm fairly new to weight lifting, would someone describe the proper way for sumo dead lifting? Last week was my first try at dead lifting but I do have a problem with my back. If sumo is easier on the back I would like to give this a try. Does sumo dead liftng have the same effect on your legs and butt as this is what I'm trying to accomplish with this lift. I have done a search on the sumo lift but haven't come up with a resaonable description.
    Thanks
