glute reaction question

I already know I have tight hamstrings and glutes. Just want to clear that before I mention this.

Sometimes, usually walking up stairs, when I produce alot of force with my legs, my glute repsonds by tightening up quickly, then loosening. It doesn't hurt, but it is an odd sensation when the muscle tightens up like that then the tension goes away. It is like the contraction from walking up the last step quickly "sticks" for a second after I am done with the movement.

Why does this happen? I know it probably happens because they are already tight to begin with, but what is going on with this process?

But not a repeated spasm.

After I produce a high force movement involving the glute.

Sounds like you have a non-repeating spasm of the glute due to quick force.

Are you sure it's not glute medius?

If sense were common, everyone would have it.

Yeah, in that area. Not quite sure.

Probably is because that is the area that always tightens up on me during training.
