Power variation between push & pull exercises...?

How come some people can deadlift their weight x 2 but cant bench press their weight??

My brother is 235lbs.. He can deadlift 405 for 10 but his max bench press is 225lbs?

Could be difference of fiber type variations in his back, legs, chest, anterior deltoid, tricep, etc. Also may be a factor of the length of his arms versus the length of his legs (movement arm), difference in form, mental motivation, goals, and experience. Also a deadlift should be quite a bit stronger, even percentage wise, than a bench press. And a max benchpress is pretty irrelevant unless you are in powerlifting, anyway. It does less to gauge anything because it doesn't take into account various physiological differences (how fast the weight is bench pressed, what rate it is bench pressed, how long your arms are, how wide your grip spacing is, general fiber type, etc)

Also the title thread "power" is not the appropriate terminology, for reference. Power is work/time and we have no idea how fast he is repping or what displacement the weight is making.

Sounds like he has long arms.

Most great deadlifters aren't great benchers.

You're right, I should have used strength not power. My bad, can a mod please modify the title?

Thanks

That makes sense, He is 6'1 and has long hands..

And I know max bench press means nothing, but when we work out in 3s, myself and my friend are repping on 225 and he feels bad! I keep thinking he's lazy but then hes deadlifting heavy....

Ok thanks all for your input(s)
