First Cut
About to start my first cut, looking for advice on how to go about it.
I'm still not very thick from my bulk, maybe 10-12%bf but I need to start running and getting proficient in things like pull-ups and push-ups. How do I go about all the bw exercises and cardio w/o losing much strength or lbm? Should I still weightlift? How do I change up my diet? I'm lost. thanks
You guys are going to lose. You might as well just cheer for me, because Boston isn’t winning in Boston for the season opener. I’m sorry. " - Gilbert Arenas

Not trying to be rude but with 4,225 post you should know the answer to these things by now...
I think your answer is going to be mostly in your diet, of course. |

Okay. But I would still lift weights. And maybe make a cutting diet and post it in the nutrition section.

Keep lifting weights.
Implement cardio. Caloric deficit. Keep protein high. |

WB said it well. But let me elaborate on those points a bit.
If you dont maintain a proper weight lifting routine your body will indeed get weaker and lose lbm. Its just like if you were able to run a mile in 5 mins and you stopped for 3 months, you could no longer do it. Cardio doesnt exactly have to be there to lose bf, however it makes it so much easier on you, plus it makes you healthier! Caloric deficit of course is a must, if your body doesnt burn off more calories than you consume a day then you arent going to be burning any fat. If you keep your protein high it normally means everything else falls in place. EFA's are very crucial during cuts (all the time, but especially then). Along with this I like to keep my carbs below my bodyweight. Supplementation-Be sure to take a multi since you may not be getting all the vitamins you need during a cut. Also a creatine is always nice, it helps to spare some lbm. I dont know what you know, but first off I would get some type of meal preperation setup and go from there. Find out what your maintenence level cals are and subtract 200 from that, Losing only 1-2lbs a week, this is the best way to keep that hard earned lbm. |

I don't think people are understanding my first post. I'm leaving for the USMC in September, and I need to start running and using a pushup/pullup, bw exercises kind of workout plan. Thus my earlier question, how do I implement all that into a training program, while still trying to lose/maintain a low bf while maintaining or even adding muscle.
