    LOVE handles are not lovely!

Hi, I work out a lot. Almost every day. And I try to include an ab exercise almost everytime I do work out. I do cardio too about 7 to 10 miles a week jog.

My trouble area always is my love handles they dont seem to go down.

I weigh 185, 5 11 and have about 11% body fat. What exercises will help me?

Just how big are the love handles? Are you sure your body fat is really 11%?

It may just be that your genetics are such that you won't completely lose those love handles until you're at a very low body fat percentage.

Sometimes, genetics will make you look like Arnold, and sometimes they don't.

Raises metabolism, maintains muscle THUS allowing more fat burn

    This isn't good.

Starving yourself won't make you lose weight. Or, at least, not in a healthy way.

Consider that there are two ways that you can lower your body fat percentage (pay attention to this word).

The first is too decrease the amount of fat in your body. The other is too increase the amount of muscle in your body.

So, you weight 185? This means that you have around 20 pounds of fat in your body. Let's say that you lose 5 pounds of fat. What does that do to your body fat percentage?

Let's go through the scenario of your losing 5 pounds of fat.

If you lose the fat, but keep the muscle, you're BF% drops to 8 percent or so. For a loss of 3%.

But, if you're starving yourself, you're going to lose muscle with that fat. So you lose 2.5 pounds of fat, and you lose 2.5 pounds of muscle. What happens to your body BF% then? You'll only lose about 1%.

Things get even better when you've lost some fat and start to put on muscle. You're BF% will continue to drop even if you don't lose any fat!

You really need to change your eating habits.

Spot reduction doesn't happen. When you lose fat, your body takes it from all over.

So, I say again: you can't do spot reduction.

    It's my pleasure.

You should read the stickies at the top of the Nutrition forum.

    BTW, do you workout?

Yup I workout almost daily, different body groups focusing on chest on one day and arms/legs on the next...
I can bench 255 max and usually do sets of 225, 185 and 135. also i usually run 5k every second day (slow pace of 32minutes for 5k)
I take a fat burner and cellmass.

P.S. I used to weigh 225 about 2 years ago and lost the weight by working out and eating less, now im trying to lose the excess fat on my sides that is very annoying.

My normal eating day consists of:

Breakfast : Peanut butter on a light wheat wrap
lunch: roast beef on a light wheat wrap
dinner: breast of chicken with side veggie
and the occasional chocolate or chips snack here and there.

I just uploaded a pic of myself (gallery) that shows off my huge love handles. actually they are bigger but the shirt hides them pretty well.

I think im a bit afraid to eat more then I do, I dont wanna get fat again. But I am healthy and in good shape (besides my love handles).

Then again sometimes I eat more, like today I ate a n.y strip sanwich for lunch, had a chicken sandwich after that since I didnt like the ny strip too much (very fatty) and just went to subway and had another chicken sanwich, plus half a chocolate bar.

Till you are willing to learn proper eating habits you will have to live with your love handles.

Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle (BFFM) should i purchase this e-book, would it help me?

I am a firefighter and sometimes I dont have a choice of what I eat as I get in with the rest of the guys and eat what they eat. (if they eat crap I usually just eat a small portion of it).
I have tried to focus on my workouts and cardio not my eating habits

well you say you run everyday correct? if so, where do you assume the energy used by your body to preform this exercise comes from? your body uses healthy fats and carbs as a source of energy. by not consuming enough you will do your body more harm than good. also i would say to eat 5-6 small meals a day. your metabolism will increase and fat will be broken down "faster". BTW if you don't eat the necessary amount of calories, your body will lose homeostasis and go into a starvation mode where every bit of fat it uses will be stored as body fat.

P.S- for your love handles i would try some high intensity training

Well congrats on loosing the weight before but you really need a good diet now to loose th rest of the weight you dont want. Your meal plan looks weak and you should really eat about 6 times a day. That doesnt mean cookies and junk food it means some clean good foods. Oh and if you want to get rid of those love handles STOP eating the chocolate and the cookies everynow and then like you said you do..Good luck
