Do what feels comfortable. I always do them without my thumbs. I like doing them off of a square beam best.

I use a shoulder width grip or maybe slightly wider.

Whats the difference between a chin up and a pull up? Chin goes over the bar on one and it doesnt on the other?

chinups ure fingers face you, pullups they face away. pullups are harder in most cases and chinups incorporate more biceps.

The grip width varies. Wide, narrow, off balance. It all works the muscles differently.

Just mix it up. You might want to go as far as never doing the same workout twice so everytime you do a vertical pulling movement somethings needs to be different.

Grip, RI, intensity, volume, cables/free weight, supersets, etc.

Well, there are no comrads right now...

I hung 90lbs off last week and did 4. That was after quite a few sets beforehand. Nothing this week, as I'm heading out for a climbing trip and want to be fresh.

It's going to be a difficult climb up to 150, that I'm certain. It's a lot of weight hanging off my waist, if nothing else. Hell, 90 lbs is quite heavy already. Oh well. I have a goal, and I'll meet it someday.

Well, my initial goal is only 1. Of course, if I ever get there, I'll try for more.
