no. the people who say that are stupid.

24-hour metabolism is all that matters. If you burn 200 calories and I burn 200 calories and you didn't eat any food but I did, does it matter? No, we both burned 200 calories.

Who was the first to come out with that anyways? I remember Bill Philips and "Body For Life" said that.

most of the myths we have in this industry are from bodybuilding. I would assume it came out of the 50s or 60s.

try running in a state where your body is in a very negative nitrogen balance and you will lose muscle, i assure you.

I actually did this years ago. And I can tell you from experience it is a horrible idea! I was tired for about 2 hours after each cardio session! I lost weight, but it wasnt good weight! Now it couldve been from many different variables, but this sure didnt do me any good!

I like interval training...5 minute jog followed by all out sprint. Repeat.

For everyday health and weight loss or maintenance I think fasted cardio is a waste. Your body is catabolic and by doing cardio you are heading deeper into a catabolic state. Not to mention that in the AM your cortisol is high and by adding cardio without eating, you are stressing your body out and increasing your cortisol even more. So, in the long run, it's counterproductive.

However, there is a time and place for fasted cardio if you are a competitor.

Danny just do what is comfortable for you. Dont push it to hard. But do enough to lead you to your goal. I do them for increased speed, help to lean out a bit, and to work on technique.

I just got a treadmill and will be doing 30-45mins of cardio in the AM at a time I usually take my first meal.. Would it be beneficial to sip my shake before working out (like 5-10mins before?) or as I work out? or immediately after (empty stomach)
