the thing is this has never happened to me before. I used to play a lot of cricket and even tennis. So i have no idea how the Wii could mess me up. I guess i thought it wasn't as bad as it is...

Time to see a doctor.
part of the problem may be the velocity that you are moving the Wii controller with. Because it is pretty much weightless and the cricket stick or the tennis raquet are both slightly heavier implements, when you swing them and apply force, the fact that they are weighted plays a big part.
Think about throwing a hardball as hard as you can. it is a lot easier than throwing a wiffle ball (or even a tennis ball) as hard as you can because you can't apply max velocity to something that ways so little. if you do, you end up throwing your shoulder out.
For future gaming, on the Wii its not necessary to wave the controller about at all for most of the games. Simple wrist movements do the trick. Even for tennis and baseball on Wii sports that you'd think would require lots of movement, imitating the actual sport, can be played sitting down in a chair using incredibly slight movements.
Make sure you take regular breaks from playing also.
