core excercises

what are some good stability(plank) and rotational(russian twists) excercises for the core? thanks.

I suggest:

Planks and Russian Twists.

I guess core specific exercises are worth the effort, but if you're just starting out training you should try to do more weight lifting the requires your entire body to be stabilized instead of using machines that have you basically locked into place while you're doing something.

It's like standing up doing curls instead of preachers, or doing pullups instead of lat pulls. I like to start people off with these things 'cause it gets their core built up while they're lifting, before I move them on to more isolated routines.

oo BTW what is with this working core through squats and deads? how do you do that? do you have to tighthen ur abs when lifitng?

Yes.

Tightening the abs (or engaging the core) help to stabilize the spine and pelvis so you don't blow your back when you're doing these fundamental movements.
