The quest for the pump..

Hello All,

The basic way I train is through proper position and motion, and with 10 reps for each set with the heaviest weight that allows me to stick to proper position and motion. (I hope u get this)

My problem here is the number of sets.. some muslces like biceps take 3 sets to get me an "almost explode" pump, while training my shoulders for many many sets doesn't get me the pump I want.

Is it.. Just train until you feel it workin' and the muscle is pumped? or stick to 3 sets and that's just fine..

I'm confused between gettin the pump, and the number of sets..

Enlighten me

Focus on your program, not if you get a pump. Chasing the pump is not what a good program is about. I enjoy the fullness from a pump, and I get resonable pumps in most of my WOs. However, I do not use it as the be all end indicator of a good workout. Did I move more weight? Did I do more reps? Did I feel a sense of accomplishment? These are my key indicators during the WO. Otherwise, it is how the cloths are fitting and the mirror. OK, I measure once in a while.

a pump may have some influence on the actual sacroplasm and increasing your overall size, although that is just speculation and in relationship to other methods of increasing your muscle size it is virtually irrelevant (mainly because just about any kind of weight training done with appropriate intensity can cause a pump)

As a side bar, what is gay about that comment. He didn't say a pump is better than cumming with/on/in a guy.

?????

Pretty good section on the pump in a book I've been reading. Posting it to hopefully have a good reference for exactly what the pump is, and why you actually don't want to get it.

Excerpt is taken from Advanced Personal Trainer Manual. Mark P. Kelly.

I'm writing a book now. Not saying that anything I have to say is correct or factual, but why should that stop me. For every theory in fitness that you find a Pro, there are equally as many Cons. Its a billion dollar pissing contest, and I'm getting out my pen
