Music while you train???

I normally listen to the house music at the gym and complain the whole time to myself under my breath. I see folks with Ipods and what not, and I tell myself I need to get one but never do.

Well I finally got one and loaded it up today for the gym.....a nice motivational and spiritual mix I think.

Fear Factory- Linchpin
Killswitch Engage- Take this oath
Metallica-One
Metallica-Master of Puppets
Metallica-For whom the bell tolls
Metallica-Sanitarium
NIN-The Hand That Feeds
Prong-Snap your fingers....
Staind-Mudshovel
System of a Down-Chop Suey
Rage Against the Machine-Killing in the name of
Motorhead-Ace of Spades

now the cardio begins
Soundgarden-Fell on black days
ACDC-For those about to rock
ACDC Thunderstruck
Rocky 4 Soundtrack- No Easy Way Out

Oddly enough I'm not a really big hard rock/metal guy but it gets me wired at the gym. The power of music I tell ya.

I do my best to focus on the task at hand, and give 100% in what I'm doing at the time. Nothing else matters except the task at hand.

I'm big into the right music when working out. By the sounds of things you like heavy agressive metal.

I have found the following INSANEY powerful:

Sepultura - Download the 'Nation' album. They are all really good, but Nation is f***** amazing. (bout 1/2 the tracks)

Also, you need to find Megaherz - Gott Sein 04. (make sure you get the 04 mix).

Static X is pretty good.
Rob Zombie
Machine head
oh, Check out Devil Driver aswell, the most awesome IMO on there albums are 'Cry for me Sky', 'The mountain' and 'Devil's son.'
Soul Fly are another great heavy band too.
Disturbed is also another favourite of mine.

For Cardio I like Psychadaelic Trance, Dandy Warhols are good too.

Music is SOOOOOOO important to my workout. Some Riffs just really get me going.

Hope that helps.

Download from Mininova.org
All free obviously.

I never listen to music when I work out.

I don't like having headphones in my ears as it it, let alone while I'm trying to workout.

The gym is my office, I work when I'm there. In, out, job done.

Plus I'm sure I'd lose or break my MP3 player at some point, and we don't need that.

I used to hate the headphones, but now it really helps me focus on the lift. It just zones me into space and blocks out all the stuff going on around me.

Also, if I didn't have my headphones I'd have to listen to 50 cent, gwen stefani and polka...yes, polka.

I like going to gym with a fm transmiter and leave it tuned to the gyms radio station. Then just leave whole thing in my car who needs earphones then.

I'm big on the on the electronic stuff too...Digweed, Paul Van Dyke, Oakenfold, Juan Atkins (Detroit homeboy). Some of my fav's, I'll like to groove though to those tunes. I get pretty amped when I train and like to really get that "I can move a mountain" mentality. Only thing that seems to get me there is heavy angry stuff.

Outside of the gym I never really listen to any of the sounds on my list.

I must say that I used to be of the same opinion. Then I bouthgt the new Ipod shuffle that is silly small and attaches to an arm band so it doesn't bother me one bit. Also I have the ear phones that wrap around your ear and they sit in fron of your ear not in it which is also good.

IPOD is great when your working out alone.

But now that I have a partner, no need. I usually dont pay much attention anyway. I only have one set per bodypart, restpaused.... so Im pretty focused or I wont get the full benefit.
