Supersets

I found this article while doing some research on the net Your Guide to Supersets Part One

as iv only started up on the weights in last 2 weeks is it better sticking to normal routine or supersetting everything? im asking as i do dumbell flys/dumbell presses as a superset on chest days and get a serious burn from it and although its hard doing 5 sets of 10 once done it feels great. my only issue is do supersets work better once iv been at it a while longer as a 'plateu breaker' and so should i concentrate on normal lifting or can i superset everything from the off?

thanks

The burn means nothing.

Just do compound lifts in a good program and youll do fine, dont overcomplicate things.

the thing is i have a week off work and im bored! as im only couple of weeks in i want to hammer the weights - in that case could i do my normal compounds in the morning say then do 30mins of supersets in afternoon or is that going to be overkill? im finding myself at loose end all day ( i literally not got anything to do) so im trying to get max out of my workouts

You spelled Plateau wrong haha.

Anyhow, I usually only recommend supersets to people looking to have more overall calorie burn during a weight lifting session. These are the people that are much less concerned with muscle gains as they are fat loss.

Now, that aside. Low rest periods between sets does spur the metabolism to trigger hypertrophy but moving from one station to the next every set isn't going to be necessary, I would say stick to concentrating on one station at a time so the fatigue from the low rest periods is for that specific muscle group.
