1x5 deadlift

About me:
Im on this full body routine and I am also on a bulking diet.

Question:
In my routine I currently have a 1x5 deadlift part of my work out. Does this make sense or should I be doing more like 3x5. I just want to gain mass and I thought this would work but i have always felt strange about doing 1 massive set of something.

Note:
I do warm-ups sets on my way to my 1x5, im not crazy

tough to call without knowing what the whole program is.....working up to a single max 5RM set is fine though. I wouldn't do it every week though, as you will burn out quick.

maybe something like

week 1- 80%/5 82.5%/5 reps, 85%/5 reps
week2- 85%/2 sets x 5 reps, 80%/1 set x 5 reps
week3- 87.5%/1 set x 5 reps (this would be a max 5RM)

its sort of like a 5x5 routine, i work out 3x a week
I do squats every workout, and I alternate between two workouts.
There are deads in 1 of the two workouts. There is no other leg work

I thought the original 5x5 workout only had a guy squatting 2 times a week?
