Applied strength - interesting cardio - ideas appreciated
So, i've been training for a long time. A friend of mine has started training again after a long time lay off, and i may say having a partner with drive again is working it's magic, sore and wanting more.
We pretty much have the weights covered, but we're interested in a sort of applied strength or cardio style workout every now and then. Pretty much we want to get alot of heavy things and what not, go down to the local oval and run a sort of circuit. Current idea's would be like:
Just wondering if anyone has any additional idea's to do, cardio or strength based, maybe also tie a rope around us and drag a heavy weight or anything. All idea's appreciated. |

Burpees, throwing a heavy (medicine) ball to eachother, complexes, bodyweight circuit training, etc.

I am an advanced bodybuilder, standing 5''10 at 220lbs and 7% BF.
I NEVER DO "CARDIO" per say. I do however, BURN A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF CALORIES DURING MY TRAINING SESSION. About 1,000 calories. Maybe a tad less. Having said that, It is PRIMARILY YOUR DIET that will determine your body composition. |

So, to the original poster, what are you looking to achieve by adding these additional workouts into your regimen? |

An amusing way of blending cardio / strength training. It's all good and well being able to throw around large weights in the gym, but i wouldn't mind actually learning how to use some that muscle in a non-weights scenario, like a practical use or something. The health benefits of doing a cardio workout are appealing, and this would be more entertaining (and probably more difficult) than running a few miles.
when it comes down to it perhaps it's just a bunch of teens who have watched too much rocky. I guess what comes to mind is almost a "drill training" situation. |
