How about improvement?
Whether that means lifting more weight, doing more reps, using a shorter rest interval, doing the workout in less time, feeling less tired than last time showing your conditioning has improved, whether an individual exercise is easier than before, perhaps an improvement in your execution of a movement showing your form has improved...
But besides all these things, getting through a workout without having any problems like missed reps, rest pauses, having to skip sets/exercises, having to reduce the weight, being too exhausted to finish etc shows a good workout.
Its a large mish-mash of things, not just one thing that indicates a good workout. Basically it all just comes down to whether a session "felt right" to me, whether i got "into it" or not, if i could complete the whole session, and finally if i've made an improvement in something.
*Shrugs* A workout is just a small part in a program, and the duration of a program will tell you if you're really improving or not.

A good workout is an enjoyable workout.
