I've been using a rep range of 8-12. It seems to be working as far as size and definition goes. Of course, you've got to focus on the diet to really see results. Good luck.

low weight high reps is a myth. The only thing that has ever done for me is give me a cardio workout. And when I hit the weights, cardio is the LAST thing on my mind. I've found as far as "toning" goes the 12-15 range workls for me. But I'm a chickita...I'm sure that plays a part in it too

You cant "tone" a muscle. They get bigger or they get smaller according to training stimulus and diet combined. They cant tone, shape, sculpt, make an ugly person beautiful, or do your taxes - they grow or shrink, period.

A shapely muscle is one with less fat over the top of it than a non-shapely one. To reveal a muscle's shape, you must lower your bodyfat percentage.

I was going to attempt a joke about my muscles doing my taxes for me but i couldnt think of a good one

But Gazhole is totally right about your bodyfat revealing more of the muscles shape. If you wish to lower bodyfat your main focus should be on your diet but also ensure your training is good aswell to ensure you dont lose any strength/size

You want to lift moderate to heavy weights 2-4 days per week. You want to do some cardiovascular exercise another 2-3 days per week (1-2 days of that training being anaerobic once you build some type of conditioning base). Then you want to stop eating like shit, and preferably count your calories. There you have it, in a nutshell.

Thank you! That word "tone" is used in the wrong way. Drives me insane!

Dont worry, me too. I just imagine the muscle literally morphing into random shapes when people do "toning" exercises. That way its more hilarious than infuriating

So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.
