Cardio
BODYBUILDING SUPPLEMENTS High Quality Supplements For Bodybuilders and Athletes. www.ironmaglabs.com I have been bulking for a while and while i am one of the lucky ones (hardly gain any fat), i have finally reached a weight where i can no longer keep my fat off. I am currently 195 lbs and i have been slowly gaining fat to the point where it's a little noticeable so now i need to cut and do some cardio. I'm not as lean as i used to be and look a little bulky (see my gallery to take a look) so i want to reduce my BF%.
I have very rarely done cardio work in the past so i was just wondering if there is a way i can set up the machine to make it HIIT. That way, i won't have to manually push the buttons to increase the intensity and then do it again to decrease it on a 1-2 minute interval throughout the session. It kind of disrupts my workout and is a royal pain in the ass. I refuse to do elliptical because i hate the feel of it but i don't mind using the treadmill or the stairmaster. Also, there's different kind of programs that you can use such as "fat burning zone", "manual", "hill" ... etc so can anyone explain on these? I just want something simple to lose bodyfat in the most effective way possible. I already have my weightlifting program and diet down so i won't need a lecture on that. Thanks |

I'm not an expert on any of this, but I always found just a skipping rope worked very well. a speed rope is cheap and you can time the intervals yourself, so it would be pretty easy to do. plus its a damn good workout.

The hill program is very similar to an HIIT approach. I do the hill setting on a bike when I want to workout like that. It's usually a warmup, 4 or 5 peaks, then a cooldown. You can set the amount of time and the intensity to be similar to an HIIT workout too... Like very intense and short duration.. maybe 15-20 minutes?
But usually I do HIIT when I'm running. I just count up to 60-mississippi while jogging, then count to 60-mississippi while running fast, repeat. |

I actually like the elliptical for intervals. It's much easier because you can just start moving faster.
However, I have used the treadmill. I would warm up, then I would hop up and put my feet on the edges, adjust the treadmill, let it spin up, then hop on and go fast, and repeat to let it slow down. Usually it takes 10-15 seconds to let it spin up/down depending on the speed difference between your higher intensity bouts and your recovery periods. |

I am personally against treadmills, I cannot stand them. I have trained at Crossfit NJ in belmar, and they train all their "traditional" cardio on machines. and is extremely annoying, although the rest of their gym is top notch.
I personally prefer hill sprints, sled dragging, sandbags, dumbell/ kettlebell swings for cardio. It is more practical and much less boring. |

yeah, I use the interval program on the treadmill. I set the jogging speed, the running speed, then press start and all I have to do is press the interval button to toggle the speeds. Wow, I just used the word 'toggle'.
Of course, if your treadmill doesn't have this function just forget what I wrote. |

Suck it up Shiz. Get out to the track and do HIIT sprints.
