metabolism

Isn't building muscle mass really just based on metabolism, just eating a lot of calories to feed the muscle by making sure your muscles stay active and flowing with blood by intensity, not just by weightlifting?

Building muscle mass is dependant on 3 things:

1) sufficient calories in order to sustain growth.

2) proper resistance training to provide some sort of tension stimulus on the muscle and force it to adapt and hypertrophy

3) adequate recovery to allow growth and adaptations gaind from training to take place.

Thanks, I will hope to be amazed.
And sorry for complicating things, Im just a stupid little kid.

Its just that I see people who never work out or train for muscle gain with good and hard muscle, sometimes more muscle than people who actually do work out. They say that they always keep their muscles active and tense in other ways like sports, fighting, etc.

not stupid...just interested...interested is good. it makes you want to learn more.

you raise an interesting point. the people who are keeping their muscles "tense" by doing other things are just more in shape. probably becasue things like fighting help to keep their conditioning level up and their body fat low. this inturn help to make them look more muscular.

lifting weights + being conditioned = ultimate physique
