position of the fist during pushups

when doing pushups using pushup-handles or hexagonal dumbbells, what is the position of the fist? should they face each other or should they face down? does it make a difference in hitting the chest more than the delts?

You can alternate between a neutral grip and more traditional grip. You don't have to do it one way or the other.
