    new trainer questions

hello, i am 21 years old and pretty much a beginner in weight training, my goal is to get rid of the excess fat that i have, ( im not over weight but i dont have alot of definition), and build some more muscle mass, however i do not want to become a " beefcake" im going more for the mathew mcCaughnehay or rian reynolds look if you know what im talking about. anyway Ive been doing what i would consider pretty intesne workouts for my experiance level about every other day, about an hour long sessions, and doing about30-40 minutes of cardio in between and about 10-20 minutes before a workout, i have two questions, one is can anyone give me a good basic weight routine to follow that will build some base muscle ( im a large framed person) and the second is, the first time i worked out, i probably over did it, i was so sore the next day i couldnt move and had to call off work. after that i started taking a multi vitamin, amino acids, and drinking a protein shake before each workout, now i do the same workouts but do not get sore at all, is this due to the supplements or am i doing something wrong, i would expect to be a little sore as well as want to be.

You should check out the stickies. I think they will provide you with all the information you need. Once you go there and put something together, post it up, and we will help you tune it.
