    Pushup Competition

Back on the 21st there was a pushup contest for McConnell Air Force Base.

Nothing special just a little fun morale thing for the fitness minded here on base. There were only two events. The 60 second event to see who could knock out the most pushups in only 60 seconds... and the non-stop event. The non-stop event is as you may have guessed, to see who can do the most pushups without stopping - no time limit.

The 60 second even I came in second place doing 104 pushups in 60 seconds. The first place winner did 108.

An hour later the non-stop event, I wont this one by doing 132 pushups without stopping. Second place was the guy who got first place on the other event, he did 125.

This kind of stuff needs to happen more often, I think the competitive minded will be more encouraged to work out if there were more races, competitions, and events around here.

Agreed. Unless he can do almost 2 full ROM pushups to a second, then no fucking way. I doubt even someone with Bruce Lee's explosive speed and stregnth could pull that off. Personally I don't think it's physically possible - but, but - I may be wrong.

Still, congrats on what sounds like a very impressive performance.

I once did 72 in a minute, pretty much full press-ups pumping all the way... I can't see anyone doing DOUBLE... Unless their doing little whacko push-ups.

that is a testimony of great endurance. push-ups are extremely easy for some people because of the length of their arms and their weight, and not so easy for others. I can do a lot in a minute but damn no where near 142. i would assume that you are not a world class bench-presser, though.

Guys, he did 104 in a minute, not 142. 142 the time was unlimited...

Good for you though, that's pretty badass!

Alright I'm back. Yes the 142 was with no time limit. I probably could have done a couple more but I had done the 60 second challenge before it.

104 full range of motion is possible. The technique the 2nd place guy and I used was a close grip pushup (shoulder width), body perfectly level of course, and it's a drop down and basically bounce back up. The counting maching thing they used was cool it was a big arm basically that adjusts to your position at "full up" with your arms totally extended. Two buttons, one on the bottom then one at the top and when you're doing the pushups you're actually pushing the buttons otherwise it doesn't count. The one on the bottom makes it so you go about a fist from all the way to the floor.

You'd be surprised, if you can get the technique right you can hammer out a ton of pushups in little time without sacrificing form or range of motion.

Sorry I wish I had pictures. I think someone may have taken pictures but I don't think I was in any of them.
