I think some people split their quad dominant stuff (squatting movements) from their hip dominant stuff (deadlifting or pulling movements) so that they can be specific in what they focus on during the week.

For example, some one may have monday as a lower body (quad dominant workout) and do something like:

    Paused squats- 6 sets x 2 reps
    lunges- 3x8-10

and then come in on thurs and do a lower workout (hip dominant) of:

    Good mornings- 3x6
    glute ham raises- 3x10-12

Is this what you are asking?

A lot of people do it.....the split that looks like this:

    upper
    lower
    off
    upper
    lower
    off
    off

is the split that most people use for the westside template (which is pretty popular here).

I use it sometimes. I think it just takes a lot of time to be in the gym that many days a week for me right now. So, I just train twice a week (total body at the moment) and then will bump that up to 3x's a week (total body) when I feel that I have the time to do so.

What about a choice of some these to balance with ?

Leg workout routine. Thigh exercise. Leg exercise pictures

Do you think the way ppl balance their lifting loads and levers bwtween groups more evenly has anything to do with long term .. injury prevention??

Dont worry about it. your answer was fine.

    thanks. :-).

some of it may have to do with injury prevention.....more specifically with regard to training the upper body and balancing out movements in the shoulder to increase back and scapular strength.

Lower body posterior chain work is also super important.

Basically, I am a big fan of doing anything between the back off the foot to the back of the head. the whole back side of most people is just weak and under-developed.

I couldn't agree more. It's like an army of homos that want to look like the women they want to be like... big chest with little backsides. I think they do it for their boyfriends.

Most physiques are probably 20 pounds below what would be their weight if they were balanced. The muscles of the back are simply massive, the lats are the quadriceps of the upper body, provide much more torque through a greater range of motion in comparison to the pectoralis group, and can be developed much more than most people tend to work for.
