Wide grip VS Shoulder width

I know everything is good in moderation to shock the muscles.

But what you guys think about Wide grip & Shoulder width for chest & back exercises? What do you use more?

This is what've heard or experienced:

Wide grip bench - works outer pecs.. I see a lot of programs that recommend this.

Shoulder width bench - Works the chest more completely. Seems like a better exercise at times to me.

Wide grip bent over rows - Gives you the sweep of the lats that a lot of people look for.

Shoulder width bent over rows - Works the back more completely than just the sweep of the lats.

Hmmm...this is a good question, right now Johnnny is on an extended vacation but once he returns he can answer all of your questions you posted above.
Just be patient, he'll be back.

Ok, I'll answer so this thread can die.

Don't worry about those details until you're 250lbs. It doesn't matter. Just do your big compound lifts and vary your grip occasionally. I like to use a similar grip in my rows and bench press.

Thread closed.... damnit I need admin powers.

You cannot isolate certain parts of a muscle group. All you can do is find a grip that works that entire muscle best for your particular body. The wide grip vs close grip is a myth my friend..
