    Which do you prefer..

I know both low reps and high reps have their benefits but which do you prefer? Maybe my conditioning is terrible, but today I did 2 sets of squats at 9 reps, managed them ok, a bit breathless after but nothing serious. I then went on to do 2 sets of Deadlifts at 9 reps at around 75% of my 1 rep max. When I had finished my second set I was done in! Took me around a minute to get my breathe back, tried some lunges afterwards but my legs were shakey so had to drop the weight quite a lot!

I much prefer low reps and I know i should probably work on my conditioning so I can handle high reps a lot better but hey ho

True, i'm very used to doing low reps, beetween 3-6. Higher reps are my weak spot

When i get back from holiday in a months time im gonna start doing a full body and switching reps each workout, with one of them being high (12-16)

For me when I'm cutting I probably go at about 75% of my IRM but go over 20 reps - I find it protects me against injury etc and sure gets the heart pumping. For building phases though 6-8 reps for me - personally i think 3 is too low at any time... just my view though.
I'm 34 - when am I officially an old fart?

The wise man say: even the strongest chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

Youll probably find your muscles will give out at some point, haha. Mine did when i started doing really high reps. Theyre just not used to being under stress for that amount of time.

Wont last long though, youll adapt soon enough.

But yeah, doing something you suck at is a really good way of getting a unique training stimulus. I say go for it, man.

I much prefer lifting heavier weights. I don't like going over 5 or 6 very much, but I do it because I like being well-rounded, hypertrophy is cool, and I don't want to fry my nervous system and kill my joints by lifting nothing but super heavy weights, heh.

I prefer lifting heavy weights, however, I switch it up every week. If high reps are your weak point StanUK, then focus on that. Always focus on your weak points and move on from there.
