Good diet.
Hey guys, newbie here and Im a 6'2'' 200lb 20yr old full time college student looking for some advice on getting more tone and losing that belly I have. The problem is, my school schedule doesn't allow me to hit the gym that often, or at all for that matter. I just now started running the trail next to my college and am looking into buying a few sets of dumbells ( 25lbs, 35lbs, 45lbs). Do any of you guys have some advice for me on a simple weekly workout plan (considering the limited amount of machinery i.e. dumbells) that will help me firm up and lose maybe 10 pounds of fat while also building a little bit of muscle? Should I be taking any supplements other than a multivitamin that I already am taking? I used to workout a decent amount in high school but nowadays i dont have the time to put in the workout that I used to. If anybody has any advice for me, it would be much appreciated!!![]()

How is going to the gym any different from using your own dumbells?
Free weights are the most valuble tool in weight training any way, machines come second.
Read the stickies in training + nutrition. Come up with a good program and a good diet plan and follow them.

Take a good hard look at what you're eating. I remember college, late night burgers and fries after quite a few beers, ahhhhh those were the days! Anyway, cut the carbs big time, and start eating protein. Eventually your body will start burning the few carbs that you are eating. Read, Read, Read! Check out what carbs you should be eating and there are tons of places including this forum on "diet and nutrition" where you can find easy protein meals or snacks. My favorite is pop open a can of tuna or 2 and have at it! Have a sweet tooth? Try some sugar free jello with a tad bit of heavy cream mixed in; instant parfait and it's satisfying. Changing your eating habits is a hard thing to do, but it's mental. After a couple of weeks your body will adjust and it will be much easier.
As for the weight training, you can do a truck load of very good exercises and get a great workout with dumbells. Search the web for "dumbell workouts", I'm sure you will find various ideas.
Finally, make the time! I know college has millions of distractions and it's easier to hang with your buddies than to work out. It's your decision, workout or don't! If you have problems with committment and you prefer to follow than lead, try to find a workout buddy and MAKE the time!
