Take a Week Off?
I have went about 4 months now without missing a single workout. I feel good, have a good amount of energy during the day and at night, very tired in the morning (I am usually a morning person and have been getting about 7 hours of sleep during the week and 8 on weekends). Also, I'm starting to feel occasional aches in my forearms, shoulders, and my back. I am still getting positive gains in strength and size overall.
My question is, do the aches and tiredness sound like I might be over training? Should I take a week off? |

Diet is pretty good (but I do know that there is room for improvement). I eat between 150-180 grams of protein a day, stay within 3,200 calories a day. I try to eat low fat and protein rich food as much as possible, but I have 3 little ones so I do snack a little bit during the day. The snacking would be my main downfall.
Can unnecessary snacking have a negative impact on muscle recovery? |

After four months without missing a single workout, what wrong could a week off do? And as DOMS said, you can expect to get back stronger.

yup. like already stated i would definitely just take a week off. relax, keep taking your creatine, protein shakes, whatever it is you take on a daily basis ya know. its not gona hurt you, only benefit you. and of course its not like youll be losing muscle or anything. take a break - you sound like you deserve one.

I just finished my off week, and I feel so much better. I came back and hammered out 3 or 4 new personal records (it feels good to finally be able to get those weights).

I took a week completely off this week, and sometimes I do over so often... However, anymore I feel MORE beat up when I take a week completely off a training... Maybe it's because I don't stretch like I usually do when I go to the gym, but I notice some light/moderate hip pain, knee pain etc whereas when I'm training I feel fine.
I think from now on when I need a break, I'd just do 2-3 workouts for a week, light weight and low volume... Maybe 8-10 sets total. |

I'm the same way. Taking a week break isn't for me. I feel lazy, soft, and everything in between. Having a light week where I'm working out 2-3 times per week, all light weight, high reps, etc. is ideal for me.

Definitely a good solid week off.
I even take one after a solid month or two. all your symptoms would benefit from a week off. I would say a few separate days within that 4 months would have helped you see better results as well. |
