Stupid People

There is no stupid people thread on the first couple of pages, but this thing today at the gym really caught my eye.

I spotted a kid on the bench press who used straps. Now, don't get me wrong, I use straps on deadlifts and shrugs and stuff, but they serve no purpose on the bench press or any push movement for that matter.

Am I right or was I too quick to judge this kid as a tool?

I was doing some vertical barbell presses last week, and this old guy came up to me and suggested that I do them behind my head. he also said that I should go deep to feel the burn!!

I was like "thanks broh!"

Was that a sexual innuendo? Cause I am actually getting hot.

maybe he was circuit training and too lazy to take them of between exercises

Nope, Andy. I walked into the gym with him, he had them on while he was driving slash getting out of his car. His first exercise was the bench press, he wrapped them around the bar as if they served a purpose and performed the exercise.

Some guy yesterday tried to do barbell curls on the one squat rack.

What a jackass.

One day, that guy is gonna get in trouble on the bench, try to dump the bar behind him, and rip his fucking arms off.

Either point out his mistake, or take a video camera with you every session, wait untill it inevitably happens, and make a killing on "Funniest Home Videos".

That's the PT's in my gym every day. They set up a barbell for curls on the squat rack while their clients are doing abs in the power cage.

How frustrating.

I always do my barbell curls on a bench press or on one of the barbells that is just off to the side, in which I'll put it on the ground.

I'm going to assume that you tell those fuckers to get out of the cage. Right?

that was like a buddy in my gym today. he was doing BB curls in the squat rack, 45lb plates on either side but horrible form. he got one of the trainers to spot him and as he did that I said to a buddy of mine beside me there "who the hell does curls in the squat rack?" the trainer and the curler walked by and didn't seem to like what I said too much...I have to watch my mouth sometimes because I am not too big myself, but it was rather funny lol.

Yeah, we have 2 power cages at my gym, and the one in front of the mirror always has retards doing 1/4 rom rows, or ugly form curls. I have gotten use to using the one that doesn't have a mirror, just because those retards won't use it if they can't look at themselves in the mirror.

It really isn't that bad at my current gym, but it was horrible at planet gheyness.

Oh hell yeah I do, they're cool about it though. Terry (one of the PTs) knows he's a pain in the ass (ask AKIRA what he thinks of Terry ).

he kind of does it for two reasons....

the first reason is that he knows i will get loud and make fun of him and make us look like jack asses in the gym because people will stare. we goof around a lot in the gym.

The second is a legit reason, in that he has an issue with his hammate bone...he fractured it awhile ago and it is a little out of place (and arthritis may be setting in) so any pulling or curling movement puts really intense pressure on it so he uses the straps to relieve the tension on that bone.

Lately people have been doing one arm bent rows while leaning over the DB rack. Considering it is a small gym with all the DBs on the rack or floor underneath, it is quite frustrating, especially when there is room a couple meters back. I have no problem asking them to move.

Exactly... also when they pick up the db's and do their side laterals in front of all the other db's also....

I've haven't gotten the courage to say "move"... I just stand there and give them a dirty look while I'm waiting....

Doing alternating DB curls, I have trouble maintaining my grip for the last two or so reps. I use 70-75 pounds per arm and because they alternate I have to maintain a static grip when there is no motion which fatigues my forearms pretty bad.

Even with that, I don't use straps for dumbbell curls lol.

And today there was a guy who unloaded the barbell completely from one side ... "Ever heard of Newton?" I asked. Everbody laughed. I guess the guy won't come back. Oh, man, how do I deserve this?

well, it helps when you have decent weight DB's in your hand, you are walking down the line towards there spot on the rack and you are walking right at them. They tend to move.

you worked out there?
The day they turned my worlds gym into one of those....1200 members cancelled their memberships and walked out.
(its a small gym...that's a HUGE loss)
I was doing my check book abuot a month after I cancelled...and saw that they were still taking out membership dues. I immidiately went to the site and had them fix it. Right then and there. As I waited, I asked about the 1200 of us leaving. The kid did confirm buyt added...we got 300 new members.
Hmm....down 1200, up 300...that's a...900 member deficiet (sp) you have...great business practice...

BTW: Had u ever had the lunger bell ring on you?
what a fuqqin joke of a 'gym'...
