Overtraining shoulders?
I'm currently doing a push/pull/leg split and trying to stick with heavy compound lifts. I'm wondering if shoulder work (i.e. shoulder shrugs, presses, lateral raises) will be helpful, redundant, or counter-productive. I was thinking of adding a few sets of shoulder work to each workout, but I don't want to overtrain. What are your thoughts?

What does your push/pull/legs workout look like? I would think a basic shoulder press like the overhead Military Press should be a staple of your push day.
Are you asking whether you should add shoulder exercises in addition to a Military Press/OH press? If so, I suppose you could add some more shoulder work if that is a weak point for you, or perhaps some rotator cuff type work. |
