I need both

The army requires me to take PT tests which require a distance run, and i just started working out about a month ago. Im trying to build muscle, but have heard that cardio can hinder my muscle growth. I need to be able to pass the run so i need to run, but i dont want to sacrifice any muscle gain. please help

You don't have to run that far for an Army PT test do you? I mean you should be able to get into good enough shape without having to worry about it too much I would think. It's not like you need to run a marathon for those things. Just keep you diet on track and you should be fine.

i cant explain it, i look as if i could run a marathon but the 2 miles in 15 min. actually comes difficult to me, and i dont even smoke. I dont know why but, i am just a terrible runner. I failed my last run and i had been practicing for it a few weeks ahead. I need to practice like every other day. What do i do?

2 miles in 15, that is a rough run. Our current standard is 1 mile in 7:30.
That shit hurts.
This run will improve your physique, it will not waste you away.
when you get into 10, 20, 50 km several times per week your body will begin to degenerate.
Id say embrace it, do you want to go your whole career worried about a run?

Up the intensity of your gym sessions. for example;
instead of 4 x 8 back squat, try for 32 reps as fast as possible.

super setting compound movements can also be favourable for conditioning.

and of course "practicing" your pt test after a gym session.
