Opp-oh Hand Pulling

As seen in the picture, the guy is deadlifting using an opposite hand grip. I've always been hesitant to make it a mainstay in my routine, opting instead for straps, because I feel like I'll be working one side more so than the other.

I'm sure it would hardly be noticeable, but when using an opposite hand grip for pulling exercises, are you working out one side more than the other?

P-funk has spoke about this a few times and the impact of the spine.

It has been reccommended to preferably use a double-over hand grip, or if you want to use an over-under grip to alternate grips each set.

Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.

That's what I figured, hmm..

Only problem with that is that I can hold 50 to 100 pounds more when my right hand is over and my left hand is under compared to the opposite way.

I'm only going to be adding it for DE pull excercises, so I'll be fine switching each set.

Thanks, ID.

I use that alternate grip for 1RM attempts if im struggling for grip during the preliminary sets, but if i can i prefer to use double overhand. It just feels more comfortable, even though your grip isnt quite as good. Comfort is more important methinks.

I've tried it before. It hurt the hell out of my wrist.

Meh... IMO, overhand grip is much more comfortable. But of course when I pull switched grip i can pull much more.

What I do, is pull overhand till my grip can't take it. Then alternate switched grip every rep til i'm done

Wow, I haven't seen you post in a while, hows everything been?

I use Double overhand because my little girl hands can't hold onto my deadlifting weight so I need straps.

I'm the same way, Kelju.

My hands/grip strength is girly, my back strength is manly. Sucks.

That's the method I prefer.
