Extreme pain after first w/o in awhile...

Its been 4 months since ive trained hard. I jumped back into my routine tuesday and was reaching failure in half the sets. I normally dont get wear down so fast. Ive been incredibly sore since and can barely lift my arms. Wondering if anyone had any ideas to break the pain.

The best idea I have is....if you have't trained in 4 months, don't do stupid things like try and pick up where you left off.

Ease into your training.

+1 million

Dont be an idiot, you cant just flip a switch and be back in the condition you were in 4 months ago. Hell, ive been off for half that and now im in no shape worth mentioning, so you're really lucky you havent done yourself a serious injury - assuming you HAVENT done yourself a serious injury already.

Cut the intensity and volume of your program, and increase the Rest Intervals a little to ease back into it. If the pain persists ice it frequently, REST, and if it STILL persists go and see a doctor.

All of the above and drink plenty water - it might just help with the DOMs - thats if all you've done is get a bad case of DOMs - take the advice above!

I'm 34 - when am I officially an old fart?
