HELP! Getting to Football shape, from Fat shape.
I'm pretty out of shape at this point, I'm choosing this forum as my intro because I'm really only looking for help right here. Diet is my first thing to fix and it is going great, back to making all of my own food again. anyways..I'm looking to get back into great shape over the next year and go into a D2 school and make a team. Strong goal for me considering I've been out of Football since my Senior Year when I quit for various reasons, not the least of which being injuries. I'm still on the edge in that category but I made great strides 7 months ago when I got into pretty good shape. Down to about 11% BF and Running under a 4.8 40 again. My strength never got back up and a bad high ankle sprain got me back to being a slacker, which since I had just turned 21 meant beer and bad food. So 7 months later I'm an unbelievable 30% body fat again. lol. I know...I'm amazed myself. Anyways if you chose to skip all that it's not too important, the important thing is I've decided to go back to college, and try out for a football team. If I make it or not isn't important, it's the journey I'm looking forward to. So I'm hoping for a little bit of help from some peeps here at this great site. I know many of the main tennants of performance shape, but I'm not so sure on how to work it all in and at this point I have NO money for a trainer. heh. Some things I'm thinking about please help me add to this initial list!!! Flexability -Myofascial release/ Dynamic Stretching Conditioning - Aerobic/ lots of Anaerobic Core Strength and endurance. Strength Training Hypertrophy training. More Strength Training. Plyometrics to utilize my strength for college speed!! I lost my train of thought about all this. It's a little overwhelming!! I think my first focus will be simple flexability in my lower body, aerobic work, and endurance with free weights (rep ranges of 12-15) for my first few weeks just to get re-acclimated to being active. I might be walking alot. If anyone feels like they have anything to add please do, I need help, want help, and am asking you all for it. ESPECIALLY IF YOU LOVE FOOTBALL!!! |
