Make progress. Nothing motivates me more than progress.

Yeah, it's a chicken/egg thing, but just consider that a little motivation to make a little progress can lead to a lot more motivation which can lead to even more progress.

Start small and simple.

I agree! Every time I look back at what I did a month ago, I always smile and feel the increased motivation to keep doing better!

On those days, I don not think. If I think about it, I will rationalize my way out of it. So I just issue the command to workout, and then shutdown all higher brain functions and go for it.

It may sound silly, but that is how I do it. I put myself on autopilot and wait for the workout to start.

if anything i chug some n.o xplode, put on some dry kill logic and turn it up, and i do work (lift)

really, i have fun when i lift. i get psyched thinking about it, excited when im about to start. i like to push myself to new limits. its a pretty amazing feeling when you surprise yourself, makes you wonder what else you can do. and i feel better after i workout too, just makes me feel good and like i accomplished something. and after every workout i just get that feeling that like im closer to where i want to be, every single amount of effort i put into the workout helped even if just a little tiny bit. you just gotta feel really good about yourself and everything youre doing to stay motivated and keep at it, thats how it seems to be for me. maybe switch up some stuff in your routine(s)? or start a whole different kind of routine. you know? try to change things up a bit and make them exciting.

...that and get pissed off and play some dry kill logic or lamb of god really...reallyyyy loud lol

Normally, the first 10-15 minutes of a workout (warmup phase) is hardest to get going. Once i start sweating and my adrenaline increases, i am in the zone.

It's tough to stay motivated when everything you worked hard for (size and strength) quickly goes away because of certain reasons that were out of my control. I am currently in that funk but am pushing through each day.

For me its really about the music. Try to get some songs on your Ipod that you consider motivational.

Same here, but I dropped a dumbbell on my earphone cord today and one of the speakers quite working. I guess since it's lasted a year I can buy new earphones.

thanks

today i went to the book store and bought muscles and fitness magazine,i think it give some new ideas for my work out..... and some articles speak about the motivation and progress.

probably for you all , it`s sound silly, but here in centro America this kind of sport it`s not practice for all people. and the people who do it , here in CostaRica`doesn``t have the minimal idea about it.
that`s my point of view.
thanks people for share all your comments with me.
peace.

Yeah, me being lazy is what caused me to get into the 35th percentile (many moons ago) in the first place!

Ditto. I'm 34 and I'm probably in the best shape of my life. I've never had any kind of ab visibility ever in my life until now. And I only work harder all of the time.

Really good music.

Quality sleep.

In the UK we're starting to see more and more people allowing themselves to get into pretty bad shape - overweight etc - so for me the motivation comes in keeping in good shape and getting a buzz from learning the new stuff that makes improvements. - Thats about it for me!

I'm 34 - when am I officially an old fart?
