need opinions on a bench i might get..

hey guys, for christmas i told my parents that i wanted a bench and that id pay for half of it. i was thinking about getting this one. its 150$...but 300$ with shipping. i think thats a good bench to get a home gym going. and i figure almost anywhere the shipping will be high because it weighs so much. so what do you think? maybe this isnt the best one out there but i like how it has the cable for pulldowns, preacher curl, and the leg attatchment..and finallyyyy id have a squat rack.

I wouldn't. I had one of those things and hated it, it was incredibly unstable and felt cheap.

I would just buy a normal olympic bench. If you check craigslist, I'll bet there are tons of them left over from New Years resolutioners - I know it's still like that in my area.

Then I would buy a 20$ door-frame pullup bar, you can get that from Dicks.

With the rest of the cash, buy a bar, weights, and dumbells. For squats you can buy a couple of sawhorses and position them in front/behind the bench to use as a safety.

My weight bench was free from craigslist (ALWAYS watch the free shit - I've got tons of stuff free, even my washer/dryer). Over 300lb of regular weights and a decline sit-up bench was $25 (again, craigslist). My Olympic weights came with my Smith machine (with cables) and the smith machine is now readvertised for what I paid for the olypic weights and the smith machine (i.e. the weights will be free when resold).

$300 will go a loonnnnngggg way if you're patient and just wait for the bargains to cross your path. Keep your money. NEVER pay retail. NEVER!

Go to walmart and get this one. It's cheaper and the front part pulls away so you can use it as a squat rack. If I were going to buy a bench, it would be this one. Just my opinion though.
