Haha, its not a problem. I enjoyed that question .

As a few general rules, in most cases:

    Freeweights > Machines

    Compound > Isolation

So a compound freeweight movement (Deadlifts) are far better than a machine isolation (Leg Curls).

Deadlifts are a bigger movement, utilizing far more muscles as well as stabilizing muscles, requires a greater amount of effort and concentration, so will yield greater results.

I don't waste my time with leg curls often. I mostly do deadlifts, and my hams look pretty good. Deadlifts and Squats.

    Deadlifts > any hamstring movement
    Squats > any quad movement

If you are just starting out, going back to basics and doing these compound exercises, like deadlifts, are always better for EVERYTHING.

You can put in a wee shrug at the end of your deadlift.

I havent done shrugs in about 2 years, my traps are no worse than any other area.

Its all about overall growth. Compound movements are the cake, isolation movements are the icing.
