Obviously the heavier the weight, the harder it is to get into position. I have been sticking to DBs because I have been working out with no spotter. I find the hardest part is getting the weight up for the first time on things like incline bench.
Is there a trick to do this? For flat bench I put the weights on my legs, then roll back and push it up straight away. For incline I sit the weight on the ground then pull it up as I lean back, then push it straight up. Shoulder press can also be trouble.

Edit. I stop this once I broke my collarbone.
If I don't have help what I do is place it on my things and at the same moment I lean back I sort of kick it to my chest.
Now kids, don't try this at home if you never did it before....if can hurt you.
I
I never kick it up, lol.

So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching

LOL, I meant thighs.

Either I have swollen testicles or my breasts sag to my knees.....we may have a problem.
Even with 80 pounds, or a bit over, it still puts stress on my wrists. Especially incline.
I have to use straps when it gets heavy
I have been using these gloves that I was given.
lol - no..
to get the db's up there first off, I have a tendancy to bounce them off my thighs also.
After that, I need the straps to support my wrists..
So katt, you 'kick' them up?

I meant these metal hooks, I mentioned this a while ago here but no one seemed to like them.

I would this they would be helpful for some people, especially if you train at home.
They actually look pretty cool.
Would you trust them with much weight? They look a bit weak.

Another site claims it can hold up to 1000 pounds.

I've never seen anything like that before.I can see if you where working out solo, they could come in handy
if the db's are too heavy to even kick up for the first rep then your probably using too much weight...
"LIGHT WEIGHT BAYBAY! BOOOOOOOO! YEP! AHHHHHHH!
corn bread good ol corn bread.
its hot in here, record breaking temperature"
Damn it Mino.... have you been drinking again?????? You know better than to drink & post..![]()
those hook things are useless....i actually bought them, they don't really work as they describe it should. Even if you can find a decent height for them to hang at so you don't have to press for a half of a rep to get them off the bar, the hook part doesn't exactly fall out of the way gracefully, so when you are lowering the weight, you actually rehook the damn dumbbells.
If you sit further down on the bench so that the hooks would clear, if you are using a heavy weight, it is hard to do the liftoff without a spotter since you wouldnt be directly under the bar it's hanging from. Make sense?
Bottom line........don't get them

^ That makes perfect sense.
