Just make sure your rear end doesn't come out of the seat, it looks like you are about as deep as you can reasonably go, although maybe thats stability I'm seeing. You could try bringing in the feet a tad if the knees continue to be a problem, I am actually stronger with a narrow footed stance. I believe thats a bit of a hip strength issue.

Hip flexibility/strength is a huge factor here. Most can not go as low as John does in the video above. Notice how firmly his torso is plastered down. My form needs much work, too. My hip mobility is much better with squats (I think).

k, then lighten the weight and go deeper, leg press is mainly a glut exercise.
