New years resolutions: How crowded is your gym now?

BODYBUILDING SUPPLEMENTS

Mine is packed. I am a member of a really really nice gym. The place is huge, and has everything. But, with the new year comes the resoluters who crowd the gym for about a month. They are like locust. That is what January is, its resoluter season. I usually blow a head gasket, but this year it isn't as bad as it was at other smaller gyms I was a member to.

Luckily my gym has an area dedicated to just curling. Now I know you guys think that may sound dumb, but it is brilliant. It keeps the turds out of my squat rack.

There are tons of hot chicks joining. I am mixed about whether this is a good thing. I typically push myself to the max anyway, so having hot chicks around doesn't help me push harder, but having eye candy around is nice.

I like the fact that I can fart now and no one can figure out who did it because its so crowded. I just act like I am offended by the smell and everyone assumes someone else did it. This is really good now that I am on a bulking diet and have been blowing ass constantly.

All in all, I'd say this year doesn't seem so bad. So come forth with your stories, gripes, or opinions.

My gym still has only one member... That being me. Seriously rules having good gear at home to train with.

But I can imagine what it would be like. This might sound ghey, but at least some of them are having a go at improving their health, They are just uneducated. Things like doing only curls and shit, maybe they need someone with experience to step in and give them some advice.

Or just wait till feb and then mostly the gym will be thinned out.

I'm a member of a pretty small self-service gym where all the scum and poor people come to. It's a bit more crowded right now, but nothing major.

We have new people that get in the way. I even got a nerd fallowing me around. My MP3 player lost it's charge at a real bad time. I should have just kept the ear plugs in to make myself less approachable.

How do you guy, who use a public gym, do it even when it's not n00b season? There's no way in hell I could do some of my routines at the gym.

Try to pull off an 8.5 minute HIT routine while having to wait for equipment? I just can't see it.

Well, I know no other way. I could never do circuit or HII training styles in my gym, but public gyms suit my training style. My fantasy is to have my own gym in the basement of my home.

My school gym was crowded today but it always is around 3pm-8pm.

I saw 3 power lifter looking guys doing endless amounts of curls...which truly is an odd sight.

Believe it or not, it looks pretty normal in my gym. Not one new face yet.

My gym has a little curling section too. There are at least 6 EZ bars, and a single cable pulley. Still doesn't deter people from curling in the squat rack.

Word!

However, I cant forget that I too, was once the newbie, who got in the way and used a squat cage for BB curls

I do think that training sessions should be mandatory when joining a gym, despite the fact that most "fitness club" trainers are clueless dipshits Ibve seen so many newbies almost kill themselves or someone else!!

A lot more people are coming to the gym I go to this month. Making a mental list for the "Gym Idiots of 2008" thread.

I go to my college gym on campus and i lift at 8am three times a week before classes and work. There is nobody there except the early birds who just do cardio on the treadmills. I love it because i am able to do supersets, time my rest intervals, not having to worry about speeding up so others can use the equipment (if i do a lot of sets) and set the music to whatever i want (this guy i know works the morning shift so he changes it for me).

It is impossible to lift there at night because it is extremely packed.

This year isn't too bad actually. Alot of little fuckers running about but I haven't had to wait to use the one squat rack in a while. I don't hold back with my feelings at the gym as much as I used to with equipment. If there is weight loaded on a barbell or machine I just take it right off. People are the worst with re-racking weights at my gym, and 90% of the time noone is using the loaded equipment. So far I have had only one person tell me they were using something that I took weights off of to load on something else. He was cool about it too.

I have been going at odd times which helps avoid the crowd, today I am going at 5 am and I went at 8 pm the last time(an hour before they close).

The worst time to go is 5-7 pm, so many shitheads. But like I said, this year isn't as bad as last year.

There is this one motherfucker that will use the cable equipment for minutes straight, leaving a large puddle of sweat on the ground, I shit you not. It looks like someone dropped their pants and took a huge piss. This guy also stinks. I was waiting for him to do his cable marathon set the other day so I could give him shit but he didn't end up doing it. He also wears sandals.

Yeah, it's much more crowded now in the gym. But that'll be over by March. But it's annoying sometimes. Like on Monday, I had to wait for the squat rack. In there was a newbie who had loaded about 100 lbs. onto the bar and squatted with a range of motion of an inch or maybe an inch and a half. And you really have to wait for them to finish this kind of "training". I asked him what he was doing, and he just replied that he was "getting accustomed" to the weight. How did I deserve this?

Ditto:

Although my daughter's boyfriend has started using my equipment and sometimes he makes me wait. I wish he was a bit stronger and we could work out together. At least he's a football player and pretty much knows what he is doing. I make him spot me once in awhile, just to let him know who the bull of the herd is!!

You seem to be a nice person - otherwise your daughter's boyfriend would let you die under the weights.

I'm seeing alot of new faces. Lots of poney tailed eye candy too!
90% of them stay in the machines room or on the aerobic stuff . Occasionally a poney tailed PYT will stray into the weight room and pick up a 10 lb dumbell but that's OK.

I hate 'em all. They're like flies on shit in the weight room and most of them don't know what the hell they're doing and have no etiquette.

I've got no problem with the new people in the gym during the year, but I hate the resolutioners because I know they're all going to drop out within a month or so. If they were serious, they'd have gotten their asses into the gym sooner.

Fortunately I work out in a "health club" that focuses most of its resources on machine circuit training and cardio equipment, so the weight room is never really that busy at all. The resolutioners though are clogging it up like huge turds in a toilet.

You got a point there. I walk outside for cardio as I currently can't jump rope. The number of people who pick up walking or jogging in January is unbelievable. By next month, most of them will have given up - as usual.

I just noticed that this weekend, the parking-lot was packed but when I walked inside everyone was upstairs on treadmills, cycling, elliptical machines, stair machines, etc.
