overtraining and recoup time

just wondering, and this question probably answers itself, but does the time it takes you to recoup from a workout dictate how easy you can overtrain?

Some people believe that "overtraining" doesn't even exist. From personal experience, I know that I get a cold - guaranteed - if I train for more than 12 weeks without taking at least one week off. My resting pulse (normally between 48 - 56) begins to rise dramatically from the seventh week of hard training on (over 70). So I take one week off after week 6 to play it safe. I think the longer you need to recover the easier it is for you to overtrain.

when i purposely overtrained in the tp-pt program(i was a tester), it was hell. my muscles got to the point where they didnt even hurt, or get sore, but my bones and jounts hurt, i had headaches, and was always tired. its really hard to overtrain, but its possible. oh and i also got sick and caught pnemonia

Yes, insufficient recovery => overreaching.
