How do I know...........
..............if I've had a good workout? I know DOMS is absolutely no indication of whether or not a workout was effective. As a matter of fact, I don't know why we don't just ban that worthless asshole once and for all. (Oops, wrong DOMS.
) Anyway, sometimes I leave the gym barely able to move because I've had such an intense workout. There's no doubt in my mind that I've stimulated muscle growth. Other times, no matter how hard I push or how many sets I do, I feel like I haven't accomplished a thing. How do I know that I haven't just wasted an hour of my life? ![]() |

Perhaps youve adapted to this type of training? Could be time to have a go at something totally different in terms of the type of training youre doing.
Like if youve been using volume training for a while, switch to higher intensity lifting. Or keep volume and intensity relatively constant and work on increasing density. Usually i feel like my body is tired, in that my muscles are heavily fatigued, or im just generally low on energy after ive finished. If its a CV session i just feel very lethargic and sweaty and shallow breath for a while. |

Workouts are like sex. When it's good, it's great. And when it's bad, it's still pretty good.
