Rant about a PL meet i went to

I put this in the training forum incase anyone is training for a powerlifting meet. Went and watched a powerlifting competition this past saturday. I am a former powerlifter and i had a few records. I did lift with a bench shirt and with out.
A general rule should be implimented in all gyms: You should not be allowed to were a bench shirt unless you can bench 1.5x your bodyweight raw.

I saw so many guys(6) weighing 170-180lbs with bench shirts on and they were barely....BARELY benching 225lbs-250lbs. This looks ridiculous

When i was powerlifting i was 23years old and these were my lifts:
My best shirt lift was 530lbs @ 212lbs
    raw was 405lbs x 5 @ 212lbs--on a bet

I think using a bench shirt to bench under 315 is pretty silly. Unless you are in something like a sub 150 lb weight class.
