Gloves and straps.
I usually leave my gloves in my gym bag for leg day, but tonight I did deadlifts.....my hands still really hurt+ the bar was kind of slippery from my sweaty hands. Does anybody ever use gloves for deadlifts?

Gloves and straps.
Just straps, no gloves. My hands tend to sweat a lot and gloves get slippery when wet.
Rules? You mean we have RULES for that???
I used gloves for a while and I found that it actually made things worse because it would just get soaked with my sweat and make my hands very tender just like how your skin gets wrinkled in water...I had some pretty bad blisters from using gloves.

Chalky chalk

I don't use anything. On my max attempts I sometimes use a mixed grip.

Gloves with sweatbands on wrists (prevents sweaty gloves).
Add straps for 300-400lb.
Used to.. DL:375lb, Sqt:335lb, Bnch:260lb

neutral grip, no gloves, no strap, no belt, do not want to be dependent on any of those things.... let my body develop calluses
I can deadlift 375 without any of these
If your worried about callouses, get some corn husker's.
mixed grip on max attempts, lots of chalk, never any straps, and never under any circumstances would I use gloves. You want to get the feel of the bar in your bare hands. callouses are part of the game, of course it's never fun when one rips open during a lift, but hey, it happens.

Thanks guys!
Every time I do deads (and I dont do them all the time) my traps get really really sore. My back and hams feel good and like they're suppose to, but you would think my traps did all the work as sore as they are.
Is this suppose to happen?

This is good deadlift therapy for me. My pathetic 405 maxes at a bw of 222, were done with no chalk, no straps, no gloves. I do use a mixed grip however.

375x3 171lbs at the time no straps it was nice dont think ill ever try that again. i use straps most of the time other then when i tryed that max just didnt feel like using them. soo i guess do whatever makes you feel comfortable when you deadlift without killing yourself

Your traps get sore because they are contracting isometrically(mostly) throughout the entire lift. I can assure you they aren't doing all the work because your traps don't work to extend your hips or knees. However, a few things to consider - your traps have more total time under tension because while your hips and knees are fully extended, your traps are still working to keep your scapula in place. Like I said before, they are also contracting isometrically through most of the movement and that may effect soreness...and maybe you are just susceptible to getting sore traps. I'm sure you've heard that soreness does not equate to "doing more work".
I get sore traps from deadlifting as well.
