    CPR/AED certification

Who out there in IM land has a CPR/AED certification? I need to get one to
get my test results for a PT certification test. There are several places I can get it but I'm not sure where to go. I called my local Red Cross several times but the person who I need to talk to is perpetually out. They leave a message, I call back, they aren't there, etc.

    So my questions are -
    Where did you get yours?
    How was it?
Is there anything I should know before hand?

I got mine from the military.
    Easy
Its better if you go in not knowing anything that way you don't block out or ignore a possible new way of doing something.

You can also look up a local college. They usually offer the course through the American Heart Association and its fairly cheap. Your class shouldn't be more than a few hours long and generally the instructors are boring but fair and will help you out if you make little mistakes.

Also as previously stated you can call a local EMS or Fire and Rescue squad for you area and they should have some information.

NOTE: Don't let the AED scare you. It literally talks to you and tells you, in order, what to do and how to do it.

I got my last one at the red cross. And I just got one renewed by a local firefighter who did a class that took 45 minutes. It cost 5 bucks! And is good for 2 years! What a joke it was. But hey I am already certified before so I am comfortable performing CPR, but if its someone who dont have a clue I wouldnt have only did the short CPR class, the Red Cross is very in depth.
