I have been on a program for several weeks with the goal of gaining mass. My program is a 4 day cycle: day1-chest/tri's day2-legs/abs day3-back/bi's day4-shoulders/traps/calves
Instead of working out 4 days per week with 3 days of rest, I have been working out 6 days a week with one day of rest. (i.e. After day4, I start over again with day1's workout in the same week) Am I overtraining? Do my muscles really need 3 days per week of rest? I appreciate any help.
Overtraining for mass? Yes! Rest is is next after your diet in a bulking session or period. If you don't like having 3 days in row off then do a split. Workout mon, tue, wed off, then thurs and fri. Weekend off
ya, im in the same perdicament,i've been working out for a long time.and i barely took a week off because of some shoulder pain.but i've been back for a while already.with some slight discomfort still.but soon i proabably will get it looked at just to be safe.anyways ,if your not on gear or ph's how many days should i or anybody be working out a week. i've tried different ways of doing this. now i workout 4 days on, 1 day off, then repeat.i was doing 3 days on ,1 day off then repeat but shoulders and chest came to close together.i've been looking at a lot post or logs on this subject.and it seems like the ones on gear, are the ones that workout almost everyday with one day off a week off. i think a lot of people get confused sometimes with all the magazines and post.some people that are on gear, should be clear when it comes to this.because some people take it the wrong way and think more is good with barely any rest time.and im one of them.thats why im asking this question .ive been at this for almost 6 years .and to me, im not where i should be.
