Reason 2 should be vice versa. You're old, so you need a decreased frequency.

Okay Okay, I know this is probably around here somewhere, and I might have even asked the question before, but.....
Anyone have a good five day program?
Why? You ask...
1.) I have recently had the opportunity to go to the gym every day.
2.) I am old. Although not as old as, say, Albob or Triplethreat.
Therefore, it is in my best interests to work specific muscle groups, or to isolate as much as possible.
3.) I'm just too lazy to search the site.
Throw something at me, folks.![]()

5 day program
I've scaled it back to a 4 day version for me because I'm old, but I'm sure a young'un like you can handle the extra day.

The chick on the pole is the workout? Saweeeet!
Nah, I gotcha T. Thanks fellow oldster....who I am not as old as.
Actually, that split is similar to what I have been doing. Less the squats...got to take it easy on the old ab tear thingy.
Guess I need to use my "isolation" energy in structuring a tighter program, eh?
Spend your extra time on a healthy outdoor activity rather than becoming a gym rat![]()

DaMayor -
Great to see another old fart here! I will turn 52 in 2 weeks and have been lifting for approx. 1 year. I began initially lifting very aggressivley, hitting each muscle group twice a week - worked great for about 6 months, then overtraining.....
So, I have been working each muscle group once/week as below:
M - Chest
Tu - Back
W - Legs
Th - Shoulders, Traps
F - Arms
3/ 4 times a week I do cardio for 45 minutes
Then, each 4 to 6 weeks I pick a push/pull combination to work heavy weights and low reps (and, legs once in a while). Currently, I am focusing on chest and back.
This works for me, can't say that it will work for you or others. There is a great deal of very good and useful information in this forum - I have tried different routines, but this one works for me.....Good luck and let me/us know how things work out for you....
