    Running before training

Is running before my weight training detrimental to my muscle gain ?

I'm looking to get cut as well as adding a little additional size .

Its VERY hard to do both but if your gonna be running, do it AFTER your workout for best overall results.

I do the running after weightlifting. Not distance running but sprints. It takes out the most energy from me so I would not do it before weightlifting.

It also depends on your metabolism and your calorie intake. If your metabolic rate is high you'll probably find it hard to take in enough cals to gain weight if you're running.

you will get better results if you do interval training in the mornings on an empty stomach. The theory behind this is that glycogen stores are low in the morning and your body will use them up and begain to burn body fat. There have been various other studies that have shown the insulin levels are particulary high in the morning hours too. So a whey protein shake and then cardio 30 mins later followed by your regular breakfast would be great. The protein is fast acting and will be absorbed into the body quckly. It will also cut down on the chances of muscle catabolism.
