Joints hurting....

Hi guys!!!

I'm new here and new to the Gym also.
It's been 3 weeks that I go and I start to have pain in my joints, knees when I run and when I work out my legs....

I know that I don't follow a diet or what so ever, because I do not wan't to loose weight, but just to get lean and build some muscle....

Also, some days I fell pumped to go to the gym and once I'm there....I feel like sleepping and not doing anything......actually I work out....but I think about leaving home.....it is not helping me.
Does someone know what should I eat or drink before, not to feel lazy....because I'm not a quiter and I really want to change my physique!

I am a female, 21 years, 135lb and 5ft 8.

I appreciate you guys reading this.

Welcome to IM

Theres a few things in your post that dont sit right with me, lol.

No matter what your goals are, diet control is important - but not in the popular vein of "going on a diet", but actually managing and logging your diet. At least to some extent.

What is your training program like? Its possible that your fatigue is because youre overreaching slightly, especially if you're new to the whole fitness game. Are you taking enough days off from training in the week?

As for your joint pain - what warming up/down do you do? Thats one of the biggest factors in getting your joints warmed up and lubricated before a session, if you're not warming up those weight sessions might be irritating them.

Its also good to supplement fish oils and glucosamine sulphate. They did wonders for my joints.

Agree with everything Gaz says really!

But Diet is very important no matter what your goals are, and could be the cause of your fatigue/lack of energy. Im my opinion your diet is just as important as your training. what does your diet look like at the moment?

welcome by the way

I like a coffee before I go to the gym. I like to eat a meal about an hour and a half before. I think everyone if different here.

Today I learned a lesson I won't soon forget. I ate good about 45 min before legs. On my last set of squats I felt ill and went to the head to puke. I am so glad I made it. I didn't think I would because I had to get my breath on the way and stopped for a time before getting there. Once I puked I felt great.

Thanks for replying so fast!! I apreciate!!!!

ok, let's start:

Breakfast around 9 am
2 waffles with jam
1-2 coffees with milk and sugar (splenda)

Snack time: 10:30 Am
Natural almonds

Snack time again around 12:00 Pm
some fruits, if not a cereal bar

Lunch time around 2 Pm
I eat only if I'm hungry...
Salad with tuna and russian bread( a lot of differend grains)

Snack time AGAIN around 4Pm
fruits.....If I have....

Now I know I don't eat well....but I snack all the time....that is my problem in front of the PC, because I am 40 h a week in front a PC.....my work....
I allways have to snack or drink something hot.....either cofee( not more than 2 a day), either tea....

I wish I could be more energetic when I go to the gym.
I have bought whey protein, 90% of protein, drank it only once and it felt too heavy for my stomac...

Sometimes I feel like you Hoglander......when I do my legs.....which is 4 times a week ( I'll post my exercices below) I fell like puking....I dončt like that feeling at all....so I prefer not to eat a lot!

What can give me more energy?

When I go to the gym....
I don't warm up.... what should I do?
I go straight on the treadmill, walk for 5 minutes at inclined 7.00 and speed at 3.5 and after I start running at 1.00 inclined and at 4.5 speed for another 5 minutes.
I go straight to the ab crunch machine.....I started with a low weight....now about 41lb, doing about 10 reps and about 3 or 4 sets.

Next is the legs.....I am new so I have no clue what to do....so I am doing the Angled Leg Press Hack Squat for about 10 reps and 2 sets and I also use the seated leg machine( dunnot if you can call it like that....but cannot find the actual meanning)

Of course I take short breaks....30 sec to 45sec and start again....
I work a bit my shoulders.....and I haven't found a good exercise for my glutes and hamstrings!!!! THOSE are the MAIN parts of the body that I wan't to emphasize!!!!

Anyway.....I'm at the gym 4 times a week for about 1h-1:30h each time....
I lift up a lot of weights..... I think that I loose all my energy into the gym...but I don't have money to have a personal trainer.....

If any one has an advice....please let me know....
I wan't results!

Thnak you so much for taking your time to read this long.....reply
I really, really apreciate you all taking your time to write back!

D.

My advice would be to read the stickied topics in the training section. Theres one of stretching/flexibility for warmups and warmdowns, and theres a lot of them dedicated to putting together a balanced effective training program.

You should also read around in the nutrition section about proper diet habits and content.

I used to work in an office 40 hours a week in front of a PC aswell and ate pretty good, if i can do it so can you

But yeah, the stickied topics should answer a lot of your questions. Take some time out and really read through them. Maybe even make some notes as you go.

Thanks Gazhole for your quick reply.

I have read the stickies......but I guess I will have to read them again......they didnčt really answer my questions....

I'll take a pen and a notebook and this time take some notes.

Thanks!
