    This good HIIT?

I'm currently cutting right now, and I remember back in high school track I used to run 15-20 40 yd dashes with 30 seconds to rest between each. It kept me in good shape at the time, you guys think this is effective cardio?

How long does it take to spring 40 yards. If it's less than a minute, your rests are probably too long.

Your rest is too long. It takes about 4-6 seconds to run a 40, but you're resting 30 seconds after each one. What about doing 100s on an interval instead (like 100s on 30 seconds)?

If your doing 20 - forty yard dashes, 30 seconds rest is fine. Once you can handle that without much of a problem, increase the distance to 50yrds, and so on.

I was thinking of doing 100 yard dashes instead with advice given. If I do that, should I cut my sprints down to 6-8 with 30 second rest intervals?

I can't run 4, but I sure as hell can run between 4 and 6, which is the exact range I posted. I'm pretty sure most reasonably healthy people can run between a 4 and 6, but maybe I'm wrong...

Anyways, why give yourself that much rest? Why not just put the runs on an interval instead? 30 seconds is quite a bit considering you're not even running for 10 seconds.

Ha, considering I haven't run in quite some time, I'm gonna need those 30 seconds early on. Well, I think I'm gonna up it to 100 yard dashes. Would 6-8 100 yard dashes be enough?

Well, Tabata protocol is 20 seconds balls out, and 10 seconds rest for 8 cycles. Proven to work.
