Some of my training from Westside
BODYBUILDING SUPPLEMENTS High Quality Supplements For Bodybuilders and Athletes. www.ironmaglabs.com I know there are alot of bbers on this board so this might not interest all of you. I switched from bbing to PLing when I was about 19. But for those of you who are into powerlifting here's a little insight to what we do at Westside Barbell.
Today we did something I've never done before but probably should have done haha. We took 350 lbs of band tension and put it on the bar and worked up to a single in our shirts. This made it super heavy at the top and kinda weird as you're bringing it down in the shirt. It was a ton of band pressure! My sets went bar (+350)x1 135(+350)x1 added Phenom 225(+350)x1 - 2brd 315(+350)x1 - 1brd 405(+350)x1 - no board and it was really fast all the way through 495(+350)x0 - came off my chest great but I kinda threw it over my face so I had them take it rather than attempt an 855lb skull crusher haha 495(+350)x0 - came close, but no dice. I was still happy with this set though because my technique was really great! I'm going to be doing more shirt work off the chest. I like it and it makes me more confident in my lifts. Boards are great for breaking in a shirt and working on top end, but in the past I've done them too much. Its easy enough to touch in this shirt so I don't really have much of an excuse. I'd say right now if I were to do a meet today I'd open at about 700 and could get 730-750 for a second. I need to keep working on my top end and 800 will be right around the corner here's video of my last set

Great stuff Travis!
For anyone who has ever wondered how jump stretch bands can be incorporated into one's strength training, that video shows one way. |

haha actually I'm a bench specialist so I don't compete in the squat and dead but the raw squat with a belt is normally around 600+ and deadlift is the same. Not impressive in the least, but I train those two lifts to help me get better leg drive for my bench. I do take some heat for it at Westside but its all in good fun gym competition.
